If no vacation is complete without a wild, high flying, adrenaline pumping experience, we have a plan for you!
The Adirondacks are home to great adventure tourism activities for the whole family. Here are some of our favorites at Ampersand Bay Resort:
Although the Hudson River Gorge is a couple hours of driving from Ampersand Bay Resort, the day on the water is well worth the windshield time. Spring is the time of year to get a big-water adventure, summer is a great time to take a family with young kids, and fall is an awesome time to enjoy the foliage from the spectacular river gorge. There are several rafting outfitters in the area, but for an excellent experience and highly qualified guides, we suggest giving the folks at Adirondac Rafting Company a call (518) 523-1635.
Rock and Ice Climbing
If scrambling around on the rocks is something you enjoy and you have always wanted to give rock climbing or ice climbing a try, the Adirondacks are a splendid place to have a go at it for the first time. If you consider yourself an old pro, but would love to explore some new terrain with a licensed guide, there are also some great options available. We suggest using a reputable outfitter like Rock and River Guide Service (518) 576-2041, or High Peaks Mountain Adventures Guide Service (518) 523-3764 for a great day out.
Ropes and Cable Courses
To get your adrenaline pumping on a ropes course, we suggest the cable course at Ausable Chasm. For close by experience, check out Boots and Birdies (518) 837-5309 in Lake Placid for a bungee trampoline and ropes course.
