Lunch

For a mid-day treat, Saranac Lake is serving up some good eats!  We have divided our favorites into two groups, eat-in restaurants and take out.

Restaurants

Going out for lunch is a great way to get out of your turn to do the dishes.  It’s also a great way to enjoy a rainy summer afternoon.  Here are our favorites:

Left Bank Cafe-

This little french style bistro on the river’s edge is a delicious choice for breakfast or for lunch.  Either way, you can’t miss the Nutella and banana crepe for dessert.  They take advantage of the local culinary students at Paul Smith’s College to put together some high end sweet and savory crepe dishes served up along with great coffee and espresso drinks or choice wines. 518-354-8166

The Downhill Grill-

This local grill has one of the best fish fries in town.  You may also choose from an extensive list of sandwiches, soups, or entrees for lunch or dinner.  For a filling delight, we suggest the Saranac Chicken. 518-891-3663

Saranac Lake Delis and Take Out

In Saranac Lake, deli is short for “deli”cious, and these are the hot spots:

Lakeview Deli-

With daily lunch specials, homemade soups and chili, side salads to die for, and great desserts, Lakeview is the place to go.  Expect to stand in line between 12 and 1pm, but know that it’s worth the wait.  There’s not much seating, but since they’re located right across from the lakefront park, you can grab lunch and a picnic table for a summer afternoon feast. 518-891-2101

Fusion Market-

For a hearty deli sandwich at a great price, we stop at Fusion Market.  Since they open early and will make you a great sandwich at any time of the day, this is a great stop on your way to the trailhead.  At the back of the store, there’s a cooler full of Indian food that’s hand made in house by the owner’s wife. 518-891-2095
