Hiking in the Adirondacks

Hiking the Adirondack Mountain Summits-

In the heart of the Adirondack Park, and just minutes from dozens of mountain trailheads, hiking trails, and forests, Ampersand Bay Resort makes a spiffed up "base camp" for people who prefer hot showers at the end of a hike. You'll find experienced hikers among our staff who can point you in the right direction for a first-time outing, share recomendations for a kid-frindly jaunt, or share war stories about the incredibly rewarding High Peaks. There are two recognized hiking programs in our area that we suggest you try out: the Saranac Lake 6er program, sponsored by the Village of Saranac Lake, and the 46er Program, sponsored by the Adirondack Mountain Club.

Short Day Hikes and Lower Peaks-

Hiking the Adirondacks doesn't always mean that you have to summit a peak. There are handicap accessible paths that are a mile or less, hikes into glistening ponds and lakes tucked into the forest, and walks through historic old growth timber. You can get out for a few hours, spot birds and other wildlife, enjoy some exercise and fresh air, and still be home in time for dinner.
