The Saranac Lake and Lake Placid Arts Scene
The beauty of the Adirondacks is an inspiration to all, including the musicians and artists who flock to the mountains to create their work. Saranac Lake is home to many local potters, painters, photographers and more. We also have a number of lovely artist cooperatives and individual artist studios that have tours and open houses.
Saranac Lake is also host to the area's only professional theater, Pendragon Theater. We also have a few great venues for visual and performing arts. Bluseed studios hosts everything from live music events, poetry readings, and art exhibits to gatherings and parties. Lake Placid Center for the Arts has a huge list of offerings throughout the year. The Lake Placid Sinfonietta performs regularly throughout the summer, and there are regular live musical performances and outdoor movies in Saranac Lake's Berkely Green, and at Mid's Park in Lake Placid.
For a more traditional movie experience, the Palace Theater is a great place to spend a rainy evening. A work of art, the Adirondack Carousel features paintings and wood carvings by area craftspeople and artists.
